Active Transportation Plan

In 2020, the Tuolumne County Transportation Council developed an Active Transportation Plan which is a plan to help improve walking, bicycling, and access to public transit.

Through community input, the of the Tuolumne County Active Transportation Plan was created to add to all work previously done in the community, not re-create it. The Groveland Active Transportation and Circulation Plan, the Summerville Feasibility Study, the Recreation Master Plan, the Dragoon Gulch Master Plan, Vision Sonora, all our active transportation grant applications, and more were all included in the process. The goal of the plan was to identify faulty infrastructure, gather community input, and outline future projects that will help improve active transportation safety in Tuolumne County.

The Plan includes the benefits of active transportation planning, existing conditions and barriers to mobility, and solutions for improving active transportation throughout the County. The Plan also highlighted priority projects and corridors that supported infrastructure that would make walking and bicycling a real option for more and more folks in the community.
